Turkey 2010

Jared here, giving Kimmy the night off. This will sum up the Turkey day break and trip to GA to see Uncle Dee. We left on the 870 mile one way trip on Tuesday around 1 pm. We drove for around 11 hours before we pulled off the road and found a place to sleep. We decided to crash in the van for a few hours. Kimmy got the sleeping boys out of their car seats and had their sleeping bags spread out on the floor of the van. Eli had his little portable sleeping area set up as well. We all slept till about 6:30. When Jacob woke up he stated that he didn't sleep all night. Apparently one of us in the van snored quite loudly and was the first one asleep. We hit the road and took a detour up to the lego store just north east of Atlanta. We arrived at 8:30 am... however the lego store didn't open till 10am. So we walked around the mall and the boys played on the play areas until the store opened. We got the boys a couple of lego sets and then headed off to the Monastery. We arrived just after mom and dad around noon and next was Uncle Rick and then Eric and family arrived that evening. The days that followed were a lot of fun. Excellent weather, a little rain here and there but quite fun. Jacob couldn't wait to go look for glass where the old pine board monastery use to stand. I think next year Uncle Dee will need to seed the area. Kat cooked a wonderful thanksgiving meal, Mom made about 9 or was it 10 apple pies in the 4 days we were there. Uncle Dee gave us a wonderful tour of the monastery, through the yellow ginko leaves and through the glass shop. Uncle Rick paid off his gambling debts and once again money flowed north. Uncle Rick gave the dogs some more chew toys so that was nice. Many puzzles were put together. The boys were happy to have ice cream for breakfast thanks to uncle Ricks example... man that doesn't happen everyday. There's a picture of Eli with his two middle names holding him below. We left for home on Sunday morning and decided to drive straight home. Around Cincinatti traffic was stop and go until after Dayton, OH. Crazy driving. We arrived home just after midnight. A wonderful time was had by all.

Good account, Jared -- and great pictures. Eli's two middle names look scarily alike.
