Memorial Day 2010

There were thunderstorms this morning. The Memorial Day parade was supposed to be starting at 10:00. By then it was only sprinkling so we decided to see if it was still going on, but it wasn't. We got to my parents house around 11:00 and had a nice visit with them. They showed us pictures and videos from their trip to Creation Museum. We got to Mel's house around 1:00 for a Memorial Day party. Jacob and Adam opened their birthday gifts and each got a Webkinz. We had such a nice, relaxing day visiting with family and friends. The food was really yummy. The kids kept busy and all played so well together. Eli spent the first few hours sleeping. When he woke up he was full of smiles and talking. Around 4:00 it started raining. The kids had lots of fun playing in the rain. Jacob's clothes got wet so he stripped down to underware as soon as he walked thru the doors. I put them in the dryer for him. Mel put a Chicka Chicka boom boom video in for them to watch and they really enjoyed that. Adam fell asleep quickly on the drive home. We had to stop twice so Jacob could go potty. Got home around 8:45.

This evening Vikki and Rody took us out for dinner at Pi's while Kenzie stayed at our house with Jacob and Adam. After dinner we went downtown to walk around. Some guys were jumping off the tridge but a lady threatened to call the police so they stopped. We had a really nice time together and got home around 9pm. The boys sure had a great time with Kenzie and were sad to see her leave.

Jacob pretending to be a robot.

We went out for Sat am drink/donuts. And also went to Best Buy, meijer, Kroger, and TSC. We got back around noon. The boys and Kenzie had fun playing in the little pool on the deck. Kenzie and Jacob also caught snails, crawldad's and frogs in the water. Aunt Vikki came over to bring to boys their birthday presents and to pick up Kenzie. They each got Zhu Zhu pets and bubbles. Jacob also got a slip n slide and Adam got a T-ball set. We went outside to play some T-ball and then tried out the slip n slide. What fun!!! A man came over and bought more than 30 chickens from our freezer. The boys love their zhu zhu pets. Jacob named his Josie. Vikki watched the boys while I sheared our sheep. Jared and Kenzie helped hold them down. Were glad to have that done. After eating a late dinner we went outside on the deck. We relaxed for a little while. Then I gave Jared a haircut. The boys were tucked in bed around 9:30.

Eli's first time in the pool.

Catching crawdad's

This morning we left around 7am to go shopping. Nana's gone so the boys came with me. They liked helping me put groceries in the cart and then loading them onto the belt during checkout. From there we went to Nana's to get the cold things into the cooler. Then we went to toysrus. We walked around there for over an hour. The boys liked checking out all the toys, especially Buzz Lightyear and legos. We got to Nana's house around noon. The boys ate a packed lunch on the drive there. It was a warm day so we decided to go swimming. I set up the playpen in the shade and Eli took a long nap in it. Jacob spent more than 4 hours in the pool. I swam for a couple hours. Adam prefers to be held in the pool rather than move around with swimmies on, though he does do well at it. Jacob goes all over the pool with the swimmies on. He even likes holding his breath to put his head under water. Jared got out of work early and went for a swim. Eli also went in the pool with Daddy. He cried at first but quickly stopped and seemed to enjoy it. Kenzie joined them in the pool after getting home from school. She came home with us to spend the night. After dinner we went outside. I gave Jacob a haircut on the deck. Jared mowed the front yard again. Kenzie caught 22 crawdad's. Adam decided to take off his shoe and use it as a cup to scoop water from the filling pool. He dumped it onto Eli's bouncy seat. The boys were tucked in bed by 9:15pm. Kenzie picked out a I Love Lucy dvd to watch.

Jacob and Adam crawled into my bed around 8am. First thing Jacob said was, “I’m five years old!” Eli was up around 8:30. After breakfast the boys went right to playing with the fire station. They played with that and foam blocks until it was time to leave for school. Jacob was excited to take birthday cupcakes to school and pass them out to his friends and teachers. After lunch I nursed Eli and tucked him in for a nap. I worked on my coupons some and then played with Adam and the fire station. When we got home from school the boys watched a Veggie Tales video. They ran to hid under the covers on Adam’s bed when Daddy got home from work. We went outside and sat on the glider. We grilled hot dogs and bbq chicken for dinner. After dinner Jared picked up grass with the lawn sweeper. Then he tilled the garden to get it ready for planting. The boys played in the fort until bedtime.
