Jared and I were up at 6am. Jared took the day off of work today. I did most of my exercises last night, but did get a 30 min run in this morning. Shortly before 7am Jacob stepped out of his bedroom and handed Daddy his Cars icepack asking, “Will you put this in the freezer Daddy?” Then he went back to bed. We waited to see if he’d remember his birthday or if he’d go back to sleep. It wasn’t long before he came running out of his bedroom with his backhoe in hand. He was really excited and all smiles. Jared and I sang Happy Birthday to him. He had fun playing with the backhoe until Adam woke up at 7:45. Then Jacob did some coloring while sitting at the desk in his bedroom. When Daddy came walking out of our bedroom carrying Jacob’s presents both boys ran to hide by the piano. But when Daddy said, “Ok, I guess I’m gonna have to open these presents” the boys came running back. Jacob was very excited to open all his gifts. First he opened his card and laughed at the monkey on it. He got a matchbox car, two pair of shorts, a Bruder flatbed truck, and a Bruder dump truck. We sure had fun watching him open his gift. Jacob did a good job sharing with Adam when we reminded him of how he felt when Adam shared with him on his birthday. That is as long as Jacob could pick what to share. Adam really wanted to play with the backhoe but Jacob didn’t want to share that. Adam had me hold him and said, “I sad” as he lay his head on my shoulder. Jacob said, “Mommy, I love all my presents!” He filled his dump truck with matchbox cars and pretended they were dirt. Both Nana and Aunt Vikki called this morning to talk to Jacob. At 9am we headed into town. Jacob was excited to tell the “ATM lady” that he was four years old andthat today was his birthday. We went to Tim Horton’s and Dunken donuts. Adam was excited to get a big donut today. Jacob saw a semi truck drive by and said, “Wow, a semi, awesome!” Lately Jacob likes to ask me “What’s that saying?” It started sprinkling and Jacob asked, “What’s the plants saying?” On the way to the zoo we stopped in to check on Grandpa and gave him some donuts. He was out mowing his lawn. At the zoo Jacob told several people that today was his birthday and he was four years old. We all had fun walking around and seeing the many sites at the zoo. The boys liked seeing the alligators and Jacob asked, “What do alligators eat?” We stopped to look at the large goldfish in the pond and Jacob said, “His name is Nemo. I named him Nemo.” The boys really enjoyed watching the monkeys and seeing the penguins swim. We watched a monkey eating vegetables and Jacob asked, “How does he make them vegetables?” Adam said, “Mon-eee eat carrot.” When the monkey laid down Adam asked him to wake up and told him to go eat the vegetables. The boys had a great time playing in the sand at the Fossil find area. Jacob liked jumping off the step into the sand. Adam wanted to jump too but we had him jump from the low step. Daddy also helped him jump from higher. At 12:30 we ate a packed lunch in one of the picnic areas by the pond. We went on a couple fun train rides and also rode the carousal twice. The boys didn’t want to ride the carousal with us standing by them, so we climbed up behind them and rode too. That was really fun for all of us. Around 2:30 we left the zoo and headed over to McDonalds for ice cream cones and to play. On the way we stopped at Vikki’s to pick up Jacob’s scraper tractor. Vikki got out of work at 3:30 and met us at Mom’s house where we waited for Kenzie to get off the bus. The kids played for a little while. On the drive home both boys fell asleep quickly. We got home at 5:30. Adam woke up and came with us to take care of the animals. It took Jacob a little while to wake up after we came inside. He had fun playing with his new backhoe and flour at the counter until dinner was ready. After dinner we had cupcakes and sang Happy Birthday to Jacob. This evening the boys played at the counter with flour and tractors. We also watched Cars. Near the end of the movie we all cuddled on the couch together. Grandma R called to wish Jacob a Happy Birthday. Adam was tucked in bed shortly after 9pm. Jacob stayed up later. As I was tucking him in bed he got a phone call from Aunt Missy. He was excited to tell her about his day and kept thinking of more things to tell her after I'd get the phone back. He was tucked in bed by 10:00.

What an exciting day! For all of you!
Happy birthday, Jacob! Being four is a great time -- you really will find out you can do so many things. Your parents will be surprised at how grown up a four-year-old is.
I am surprised that Jacob's presents did not include several bags of flour he can play in on the kitchen counter.
Happy Birthday Day Jacob.
Those are some pretty cool trucks too.
Wht a great day and Daddy took the day off to be with the family. What a deal. No one wanted to miss the fun. Happy Birthday 4 year old Jacob. You got a ton of trucks. Wow...The flour fun looks great. Love you a bunch.
I guess the STARS T-Shirt is just to humor me as I hate to say it the Dead Wings are still in the playoffs and the STARS are not. Must be in celebration of the birthday boy.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACOB!!! Awesome trucks. Looks like you had a fun day. We love you. Love Aunt Missy, Uncle Bruce, Hailey, Max, and Jack. And Abby too:)
A very excited birthday boy picture...second from the top along with a whole host of other pictures shows Jacob's excitement from head to toe! That smile is very real. Love it.
