Jacob said, "Mommy, this sign says Welcome to the library."

Daddy can't see. Jacob ate his eyes.

Jared and I were up at 5:30. We went outside to take care of the animals. I did a 30 min run while Jared loaded up the broiler. At 7:00 Jacob came walking out of his bedroom. He said, “You know what? I love you this much. And this. And this” as he spread his arms in many different directions. Jacob went outside to help Daddy while I woke up Adam. The boys were excited to go for a car ride. We got to Sarah’s house at 7:45. Adam was excited to see a horse pulling a cart. We were home back before 8:30. Jared got ready and then left for work. The boys watched the tractor video as they ate breakfast. I did the rest of my usual more exercising. Then the boys played on my bed with cars while I organized our closet. I packed away some winter clothes and got out more summer things. The boys had fun playing with moon sand for a while. I folded and put away a huge pile of laundry. Jacob and Adam folded my dishtowels for me. Then they made a house under the counter to play in. During lunch Adam asked fme or a hug. I went to give him a hug and Jacob said, “Me too!” Then Jacob said, “Now give Adam and me a hug. Give us a double hug.” At 1:30 we headed into town to get chick food, freezer paper for the chicken meat and some other groceries. On the drive to the grain elevator we stopped to watch a garbage truck at work. The boys loved watching it pick up the front dumpster and then dump the trash in back. After leaving the last store the boys quickly fell asleep in their car seats. They continued sleeping as I carried them to their bedrooms. We didn't get home until almost 4pm. The boys didn’t even wake up from all the dogs barking when Jared pulled in the driveway. After getting things ready we woke the boys and headed over to pick up our birds. We got back home around 6:30. The boys played in the sand for a while and then in the pool while we weighed, packaged, and got the birds put into the freezer. We came inside to eat a late dinner. The boys played in the tub until pj time. They were tucked in bed by 9:30.

Grandma in Kenya said...

Hi kids. It's Grandma in Kenya talking. I am having a wonderful time organizing games and playing with sick children in the hospital. Today we are going to a little town out west and we will see Irene that I met two years ago. We will go to the shelter built by the north kids four years ago and visit with a little boy who is 7 and is responding to medication for HIV Aids. We are taking crayons, coloring book, pencils and a little match box car. It should be a fun morning seeing and hearing lots of new things. This afternoon I'll be back at Sally Test playing, singing and just having a great time working with Ernest who is a wonderful teacher of pre-school children. It's been a very productive time here. The North Kids are having a good time seeing so many things. Love you all a bunch.

How big were your first batch of chickens that you had butchered

Last year the smallest chicken weighed 1.75 lbs (just one) and the largest was 4.75 (one). Most weighed between 3-4 lbs. This year the smallest weighed 3.5 (one) and the largest are in our fridge because we don't have a scale that weighed over 6.0 pounds. There are 7 of these very large birds in our fridge so its pretty packed in there right now. Most this year weighed between 4-5 pounds. We still have over 100 birds to take.
